9 December 2008 - SA Bio Plan Launch and Awards Gala Dinner

Science and Technology Minister Mosibudi Mangena will be launching the South African Bio Plan at the CSIR on the 9th of December. Inaugural winners of the SA Bio Plan Business Plan Competition will also be announced at this event.

The SA Bio Plan is an initiative sponsored by the Innovation Fund and Emory University of Atlanta, Georgia USA. The objective of the programme is to encourage the development of the biotechnology sector in South Africa and development of life science companies. This focus is based on the Department of Science and Technology's Innovation Towards a Knowledge-Based Economy Ten-Year Plan for South Africa (2008 - 2018) which highlights the progression of "Farmer to Pharma" as one of the grand challenges facing South Africa.
