Patent Support Funds

Intellectual Property protection can be a complicated process and many entrepreneurs have no idea how to patent their ideas. Patent Support Funds from the Innovation Fund are instruments targeted at techno-entrepreneurs, small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and research institutions to assist them by absorbing some of the costs of protecting their Intellectual Property.

Simply because you have an idea does not mean that you are automatically guaranteed funding from the Innovation Fund. The Innovation Fund is committed to supporting technology development that will assist in business growth for the benefit of all South Africans. For this reason, funding is granted to those ideas that are considered novel, inventive and value-adding. The correct due diligence is carried out on all prospective funding applicants, ensuring not only the legitimacy of the applicant and idea, but also the value that such technology development would add to our country.
